Needless to say, the Tink team were excited when we started working with local designer label OnceWas on their VAMFF fashion event, which showcased their amazing new Autumn/Winter collection.
The OnceWas Autumn 2016 collection ‘Sashiko’ was born from the influence of its namesake, the captivating traditional art of Japanese decorative stitching. A functional yet beautifully timeless technique, its premise aligns directly with the OnceWas aesthetic whilst providing the foundation for the contemporary colour palette.
Digitally printed silks, crafted in the customary sashiko washed indigo and cream hues soften against a strong base of black and navy, whilst key knitwear styles in pale chambray and blush add an understated, yet gracious hint of colour. Versatility reigns supreme with sheer shirtdresses doubling as tunics when paired over the staple leather legging, and a contrasting reversible ponti fabric seamlessly turns a single look into a whole new outfit.
The use of buttery soft lambs leather and fluid silks add a luxurious edge to the collection, taking shape in tailored, longer line silhouettes designed with layering in mind. Circular knits, jumpsuits, faux fur and shift dresses provide a subtle nod to 70s inspired styling, executed with the effortless sense of refined ease that is synonymous with the label.
The collection allows a fresh interpretation of all that is OnceWas; an innovative, considered and chic fashion favourite, confidently pushing the boundaries of modern aesthetic whilst maintaining classic shapes for the everyday woman.
